Catching Up...

Hello Family and Friends!

I've been putting off blogging until we had some final news on the house we bid on, but unfortunately we still haven't heard so I thought I'd update the other stuff in out lives.
Emma had her 9mo check up and weighs 23lb which is in the 95% and is 29inches 85%. So she continues to be big for her age but is growing right on her growth curve. I mentioned to the doctor that I was a little bit concerned about her eyes and how they sometimes turn in. The doctor agreed and said she may have Strabismus so we have an appointment on Tuesday March 4th to see the pediatric opthamologist. Below is a little bit about Strabismus...

Esotropia is the most common type of strabismus and is characterized by inwardly turned eyes. This type of strabismus usually presents by about 6 months of age, and may progressively worsen in severity. If the affected child does not need glasses and amblyopia is not present, strabismus surgery is often indicated. It is generally agreed that surgical treatment at an earlier age may allow improved depth perception. The most common initial surgery for esotropia is a medial rectus muscle recession. In this procedure, the muscle of the inner eye is weakened by moving it back on the eye, thereby relaxing its tension. One or both eyes may be treated. Depending on the circumstances, the outer muscles of the eye may be tightened by shortening the muscle length. This procedure is known as a lateral rectus muscle resection.
So hopefully we get some good news from the eye doctor and Emma doesn't need surgery. We will keep you posted on that.

Onto other Emma news, she got a new walker this week and after a few days of just standing in it, figured out that she can actually move it. It's cute, she now tools around the house looking for new stuff to get into. She found out that she can look at her reflection in the stove and gets pretty excited about it.

She is also getting into everything! Long gone are they days of blocking areas off with pillows! She knows that all she has to do is move the pillow and she can get to whatever is behind it. She as also taken to launching her pacifier out of the crib so I come back into the room and give it back. (Little snot). Needless to say we are really enjoying her and can't believe she will be 1 in 2 months.

Jon's new job has been keeping him pretty busy between traveling to Texas last week and working 18 hrs this week (oh and one 22hr day) we haven't seen much of him but are hoping that his work load will settle down and we can spend more time together as a family. We would really like to get up to the lake house this winter, but we aren't sure if and when that it is going to happen.
